In a recent interview between Tucker Carlson and Charlie Kirk, Tucker described Kirk as “the single most effective organizer of conservatives in the United States. Charlie Kirk is doing what the RNC was supposed to do. We have a political party for this, but they are chartering jets and ordering floral arrangements. So, they don’t have time.”
Their conversation began with,
TUCKER: “I’m sure I’ll get you in some kind of trouble at intro, but it, it is literally true. Is it kind of weird to have like replaced an entire political party?”
KIRK: “I mean, I don’t know if we’ve done that.”
TUCKER: “OK. Yeah you have.”
KIRK: “Just to be fair, the RNC used to be so weak and so feckless there was not much to replace. But uh…”
TUCKER: “Well, that’s totally fair.”
KIRK: “And the reason being, and this was our argument from the beginning, is that everyone of you deserves a Republican Party as conservative as you are. Period.”
“You deserve your leaders and your leadership to at least be in the same ballpark as your values.”
– Charlie Kirk
The national advocacy of Kirk’s Turning Point Action for effective leaders who truly represent the people has been mirrored by the local efforts of parents and Ottawa Impact here in Michigan over the past few years. In June, Joe Moss and Sylvia Rhodea had the opportunity to share the work of the people of Ottawa County at Turning Point Action’s The People’s Conference in Detroit, Michigan.
For too long, America has been led by people— from local to national seats, who are not honest or transparent about what they believe in, or lack the backbone to act on their convictions, leading to a government which misrepresents the people it was created to serve.
Politicians say what they wish to be elected, but once in office, they serve other political special interests and leave the people who elected them behind.
This disconnect became especially clear in Ottawa County leading up to 2022 with widespread government overreach during the Covid-19 pandemic, the county’s partnership with divisive DEI organizations aligned with the Democrat Party and the Biden and Whitmer administrations, and the promotion of Planned Parenthood-aligned materials through the Department of Public Health.
During the 2022 election, the people of Ottawa County elected a new majority of courageous everyday Americans, replacing 8 of 11 Republican county commissioners. When the new commissioners started their term, they immediately took action to protect the people of Ottawa County. The Board closed the divisive DEI Department and changed the county vision statement to Where Freedom Rings. The Board also hired a new county administrator and county attorney, as those who previously held those positions had made it clear they would not work cooperatively with the new conservative Board.
Since 2023, the new Ottawa County Board of Commissioners has worked hard to protect the heritage of Ottawa County by prioritizing freedom, family, and American values, providing what has become a rarity in America— leadership in the same ballpark as the values of their people. As we enter 2025, Ottawa Impact will continue to provide leadership and accountability in Ottawa County, with the expectation that our elected leaders will truly represent the people.
